Emma MacDonald was born and raised outside of Washington, DC, where she received a B.A in International Relations from American University. When she’s not writing, she can be found gardening, brewing potions, or chasing after her small menagerie of pets. Emma loves to write fantasy with a big splash of magic and romance.
Her debut adult Romantasy Whispers Most Foul was published by Penguin Michael Joseph in the UK and Arc Manor in the US. The sequel, Whispers Most Deadly, followed in November 2025.
Her next project, Romantasyland, is forthcoming from Bantam Dell/PRH in 2027. Romantasyland is a queer satire in which a superfan of the genre attends a romantasy-themed retreat, only to fall through a portal and into a real fantasy world where she is declared the chosen one and expected to save the kingdom, all while entangled in a love triangle,
